Indiana Tech Takes Pride in Resolving Customer Issues and Teaching Them a Thing or Two

At Comcast, we believe every employee is responsible for ensuring our customers have a great experience with us. Here in Indiana, we’ve got more than 2,000 employees dedicated to improving customer service.

From time to time, we’d like to introduce you to some of our local colleagues who work hard on our customers’ behalf.

Meet David McLiver, of Indianapolis:

1.How long have you worked with Comcast?

I have worked at Comcast for just over seven years. In that time, I have worked in a few different areas of Technical Operations, starting with residential, Xfinity Home, and currently working as a Comcast Business technician.

2. What do you do in your role as a Comcast Business technician?

I install and service business customers to the best of my ability so that they want to stay with us and spread the word of how great our services really are.

3. What is the most memorable story of a time you helped solve a customer’s concern?

I had a residential customer who was visually impaired. Having our X1 platform was a big help. I was able to go in and turn on the voice prompts, making it much easier for the customer to navigate Xfinity OnDemand, our on-screen guide and everything else the X1 platform offers.

4. What would you say is the most gratifying/best part of your job?

Having the knowledge to go and fix things that customers have come to depend on in their day to day activities.

5. What is the most valuable lesson you have taken away from representing Comcast and working so closely with our customers?

One thing I have learned is to treat everyone with respect – no matter the situation. If I treat customers with respect and show them that I am there for them, it can really help change how they treat me. That just makes everybody’s day better.

6. What is one tech tip that you offer customers most commonly that they typically aren’t aware of?

Make sure your equipment is plugged in before calling in for a trouble call. It’s a very simple thing that can often get overlooked and happens more than you think!
